#2 Start Your Journey

Start your journey and share mine.

Hi there,

Welcome to another edition of Contentment, the weekly newsletter for content creators who want to grow their skills, audience, and income.

What is the secret sauce to selling products online when you're new to it?

• When you start, focus on a single product.

If you try to do multiple thing sat the same time or everything at the same time, you are bound to fail.

The reason for your failure won't be that your product sucks - it's just that you won't be able to focus on one audience and you won't be able to focus on one product on your sales page. This will cause confusion for your audience and your potential customers.

But, let's take a step back. Before you get to sales, you have to start your journey on content creation. Today is that day. Today, I want you to start your journey on content creation if you haven't so far.

If you are thinking about starting a business or doing something on the side, I want you think of one single product that you can make for your past self. Go back 1 year, 5 years, or even 10 years. What is the one thing that you wish you had at that time, but didn't, but now you do? Write that down in big letters on a piece of paper and make it YOUR topic.

Now, I want you to post about it. Don't worry about comments, responses, impressions, or anything else. If you're working full time, don’t worry about your employer at this moment either - you're just giving out free information or sharing your thoughts on a topic, nothing more. So, there is no way any non-compete would come into play!

Simply write the following on your LinkedIn Profile (if you don't have one, create one) and post "I love talking about [topic] and I hope to share a ton of information about it with you in the future".

Congratulation, you've taken the first step to content creation! We'll talk about your next step in next week's newsletter!

Next, I want to talk about some of the podcasts or events I sometimes listen to and suggest you listen to them as well.

There are times when I tune into an event or podcast hosted by Dean Graziosi, such as "Own Your Future". But, I don't usually list to the podcast to hear what they are talking about. Rather than focusing on the topic itself, I focus on trying to understand how their topics lead up to their sales pitch. As a business owner, I understand and focus on how to do business rather than be caught up with topic itself.

If you want to sell, you need to understand how to connect to your audience and how to show them the value of your product. Remember, you can have the best product in the world, but if you don't present it the right way, the audience will miss out on the value of it, leading to little or no sales. The best way forward on how to do this is to see how others have done it in the past.

When it comes to books, I read books that help my brain stay calm - one of the books that I would recommend is, "Think Like a Monk" by Jay Shetty. The book talks about how to overcome negativity and how to stay calm. I'm still in the process of finishing it, but it's definitely worth the money so far!

Moving on, I want talk a little about where I am in my content creation and business journey.

So far, I've focused on education only - mainly teaching students about the Customs Broker Exam, helping them pass the Customs Exam via Exam Appeals, and coaching for the exam via group of 1-1 sessions. I want to take this a step further. I want these students to succeed beyond just passing the exam.

From here on, I am going to shift the focus of my YouTube channel towards content creation and starting a business. As I start creating new content, I will be sharing the challenges I face, the lessons I learn, and the wins I gather. If you haven't joined my YouTube channel, subscribe so you can be part of my journey!

That's it for this week. Thank you for reading Contentment.

If you enjoyed this newsletter, please share it with someone who might find it helpful or interesting.

And if you have any questions, feedback, or suggestions for future topics, feel free to hit reply. I'd love to hear from you.

Until next week,

Nadeem Virk
